Ink and polychrome on paper, still life depicting realistically treated vegetables with an inscription at top left 己亥重阳节后二日画于桐荫书屋, Ji hai chongyang jie hou er ri hua Yu tong yin shu Wu, "two days after the Chongyang festival of the Jihai year (1899), painted at Tong Yin Shu Wu" (Tong Yin study house, name of Qi Baishi's workshop). The work is signed with two characters 萍翁, Ping Weng and a seal 苹翁. 29 x 39.5 cm on view Ping Weng is a pen name that was used by Qi Baishi, 齐白石 (1864-1957).
