Beautiful, friendly letter to Gérard Magistry, brother of decorator Madeleine Castaing, and familiar with the circle of friends of Jacques Guérin, Violette Leduc, Jean Genet... It was he who introduced Maurice Sachs to Jean Cocteau. He regrets having stood him up: "Don't blame me. It's my turn to fall in love, and with the greatest violence. I wait every day for that hour of presence, of which I hardly know in advance what it will be - presence without which I suffocate - you know that." It was a 17-year-old teenager who was the object of Maurice Sachs' undivided attention. The affair lasted a few weeks (Maurice Sachs, Henry Raczymov, Gallimard, 1988, p. 363). - Attached is a set of autograph notes and drawings by Maurice Sachs on 3 in-8 sheets on the letterhead of the NRF, plus a collage of paperolles on kraft paper, entitled "Mots". This set was offered by antique dealer Madeleine Castaing, Soutine's mistress, in May 1975.
