[RUSSIAN LITERATURE] - ŠKLOVSKIJ (Viktor Borisovič).
Zоо или Письма не о любви. [Zoo or loveless letters].
Берлин: Геликон, 1923 [Berlin: Gelikon, 1923]. -In-8, 215x158: 109 pp, (1 f.), printed cover. Paperback.

First edition of this epistolary novel by Russian writer Viktor Borisovič Šklovskij (1893-1984).
The author states in his preface: "The letters are written by a man in love with a woman who has no time for him. Hence the need for a new detail: as the main part of the book is not about passion, I resorted to forbidding any talk of love. The result was what I expressed in the subtitle: "Letters that don't talk about love".
The theme of love in this novel is partly autobiographical, and the character of Alja is none other than Elsa Triolet, with whom the author was enamored.
As-published paperback copy, perfectly preserved and uncut.
There are only a few scattered freckles and light wetness in the upper corner of the cover and leaves.
