[LE FÈVRE (Jean)].
Le Rebours de Matheolus.
Paris: Michel Le Noir, 1518 [1846]. -In-8, 193x124: (60 ff.). Long-grained dark green morocco, wide gilt roulette on outer edges of boards and continuous at spine ends, ornate ribbed spine, inner gilt roulette (period binding).

Bechtel, M-179.
Facsimile reproduction of Michel Le Noir's 1518 edition of this verse poem in defense of women and marriage, attributed to the writer and translator Jean Le Fèvre (1320?-138.).
The text is the exact opposite of the deeply misogynistic Livre de Mathéolus, which Le Fèvre himself had translated and adapted. The larger princeps edition appeared around 1506 under the title Le Resolu en mariage.
This edition is a facsimile reproduction in in-8 format, made, according to Bechtel, in 40 copies in 1846. It includes the two large woodcuts on the recto and verso of the first leaf, as well as Michel Le Noir's fine mark on the verso of the last leaf.
This copy is printed on laid paper, very well bound in green morocco.
Small split at one spine, corners very slightly dulled and a few traces of rubbing, endpapers renewed. Scattered but not serious foxing.
