SAXONY Saxon officer's helmet, presumed to be from a pioneer battalion. Patent leather shell. Silver-plated brass tip. Base with gold stars. Plaque with coat of arms on a radiating silver background and gilded coat of arms. Silvered bosses, 1st scales and chinstrap attachments. Brass scales lined with leather. Officer's cockades in Reich and Saxon colors. Missing plate fasteners. Brown leather and green moire lining. Inscribed "Thespis". This helmet is believed to be a model of the 1st Prussian Railway Regiment 7th and 8th Cie of Saxon Pioneers of the IInd Battalion. A.B.E.
