The Le Barc de Bouteville gallery was founded by Louis Léon Lebarc (1837-1897), who added the name and particle of his wife Marie-Blanche de Boutteville. An art lover, he entertained artists and critics in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, where he lived and owned a mustard factory. After retiring, he became an art dealer, championing avant-garde artists such as the Nabis. Located at 47 rue Le Peletier (Paris 9th), not far from the Durand-Ruel gallery and the headquarters of the Revue blanche, the gallery existed from 1891 to 1899. It organized exhibitions of "Impressionist and Symbolist painters". The artists were Bonnard, M. Denis, Ibels, Mouclier, Ranson, Roussel, Sérusier, Vallotton, Vuillard... They took it in turns to supply lithographed posters announcing these exhibitions.
