Émile Bernard (1868-1941) Maryo spins wool. (Illustration for J. Moréas, Les Cantilènes, 1892). Zinc print. Sight: 340 x 220. Morane 32. Fine proof on cream vellum, in a more advanced state and with more black than the one reproduced by Morane, numbered in pencil and stamped with the gray signature. Light brown spots. Framed. "The project to illustrate Moréas' poems seems to date back to 1891; in 1892, its publication was linked to Paul Fort's magazine, Le Livre d'art, which was to publish a supplement of Bernard's eight illustrations. Like the magazine itself, which had only three issues, this project failed" (Source: INHA).
