[Joseph de CAMBIS]. P.S. by Justin MORARD DE GALLES (1741-1809), Brest 11 brumaire V (November 1, 1796); partly printed broadside (folds split, top edge a little frayed). Statement of the services of Rear Admiral Joseph Cambis, with a list of the vessels on which he served, from 1780, for the operations of the American War of Independence (he had been part of the Grasse squadron from spring 1781), to 1793. He says nothing of the turbulent circumstances of his 1792-1793 mission to Saint-Domingue, or of his reinstatement in the navy on September 17, 1795, after almost a year's incarceration during the Terror. He was discharged in 1796. The document is signed by commissaire de marine Mévillem (?), ordonnateur de marine Genay and Morard de Galles, "commandant des armes".
