He sends him a cheque for 1900frs "and I'm keeping a hundred: you're too kind not to send me to take advantage of it [...] get some sun and work: I don't do anything in the shade" [January 9, 1897]. "3 mots-z-à la hate * 1er mot Penses-tu réussir reçu au Mercure [...] paraîtra commencem. Avril. 2ème mot Fort s'informe mélancoliquement de sa Préface [pour Ballades françaises] 3ème mot bien à toi ". [February 3, 1897]. Sends "the portrait of the one we love" and informs him that "Penses-tu-réussir is in print". Tuesday: his plans for March: 1°) My proofs.
