George SAND. L.A.S., Nohant November 23 [for 24] [1871], to Gustave Flaubert; 3 pages in-8.

Friendly letter to Flaubert, with a line from his granddaughter Aurore.
"I know from Plauchut that you don't want to let yourself be kidnapped for our New Year's Eve party. You have too much to do, you say? Too bad for us, who would have been so happy to see you. -You were at Ch[arles] Edmond's play [the Baroness], which was a success, you're doing well, you've got a lot to do, you still hate silly bourgeois; and in all this, is St Antoine [The Temptation of St Anthony] finished, and will we be reading it soon?" Then she charges him with a commission: "I had to rescue a respectable and interesting person whose bed and seat the Prussians left only an old garden bench. I sent her 300 f. She needed 600. They sent me what I needed, except for Princess Mathilde, from whom I had asked for 100 f." She fears that the Princess's shipment may have been lost in the mail or stolen: "I ask you to clear up the matter as soon as possible. Aurore adds, on lines drawn in pencil: "Love to you too, Aurore".
