Émile GOUDEAU (1849-1906). Autograph poem, Les Fous, and 3 L.A.S., [late 1895], to Steinlen; 4 pages small in-fol. (31 x 10 cm), and 3 pages in-8, one envelope. Attached is a l.s. from Henri-Joseph to Steinlen about a publication of Le Gardénia in homage to Goudeau (Oct. 6, 1920). Long poem published in Gil Blas, December 15, 1895, with cover designed by Steinlen. "Le Vertige noir invites them A gambiller sur le chemin : Les Fous vont vite, vite, vite! Sait-on qui sera fou demain?"... At the end, Goudeau specifies that this poem is taken from his next collection, Chansons de Paris et d'Ailleurs... The letters concern the dispatch of this poem, which Goudeau had to recopy for Steinlen. Then he congratulates Steinlen on his drawing: "It's perfect, extra-perfect. Les Fous couldn't have found a better interpreter. And what beautiful madness! Attached is a l.s. from Henri-Joseph to Steinlen about a publication of Gardénia in homage to Goudeau (Oct. 6, 1920).
