He mentions two monuments to Vitet for his trip: "an old manor house belonging to Anne de Bretagne, now transformed into a farm building", at Saint-Ouen near Château-Gontier; and the Saints de Solesme. This is a series of remarkable sculptures dating back to 1520 or 1530, with 3 sides of a small chapel entirely covered". The chapel was due to be demolished, but was rented "for one year to a kind of congregation"...
