Fine and rare French Gothic edition of the first 6 books of Philippe de Commynes' "Mémoires", printed by Guillaume de Bossozel for Pierre Godoul and François Regnault. It follows the 1525 edition printed by Antoine Cousteau for Galliot Du Pré. The title features a fine frame and the mark of Pierre Godoul. Copy in early 20th-century binding. Used rubbing to binding, corners dulled. Title rebacked, probably from another copy. Some foxing and ink stains. Black stains on text on fol. 54 recto. Lower margin of leaf D2 cut, without affecting the text. The notes printed in the margins of leaves 87 to 106 (end) have been slightly cut. Restoration to edge of last leaf. Provenance: Ad.
