Furniture made from lemon wood remains relatively rare in the corpus of 18th-century French furniture. It appeared under the name of Guadeloupe walnut in the second half of the 1780s. The famous merchant Dominique Daguerre delivered several pieces of lemon-wood furniture to the Château de Versailles, including a secrétaire à abattant probably by Claude Charles Saunier for the Duc d'Harcourt on March 10, 1787 (London sale, Sotheby's, March 10, 1965, lot 41).

A secrétaire à abattant with similar characteristics was sold by Sotheby's in London on May 3, 2012, lot 42, a third secrétaire was part of the New York sale at Sotheby's on April 20, 2018, lot 1109.

A simpler commode, also with detached columns, was sold in Paris by Artcurial on December 16, 2019, lot 48. A second commode also featuring a bronze drapery frieze in the gallery is now listed on the English art market.
