End wood marquetry chest of drawers, with two drawers, decorated with branches of flowers on an amaranth background, the Campan marble top (restored) resting on curved uprights terminating in cambered feet; gilt bronze ornamentation with a foliage cartouche and falls with women's heads (with original frames and small handles).

Stamped R. Dubois.

Louis XV period (restorations).

H. 91 cm, W. 119 cm, D. 59 cm

The question of which stamp was used by 18th-century cabinet-makers bearing the Dubois name remains unresolved. It is generally believed that René Dubois also used his father's I. Dubois from his father, without however fully clarifying the question of the R. Dubois stamp found on several pieces of furniture from the same period. This stamp is attributed to a homonym of Jacques Dubois' son, but the great similarities with the work of Jacques Dubois remain rather troubling.

The same collared espagnolette falls also adorn earlier furniture by Charles Cressent, Etienne Doirat and FL.
