Neo-Mamluk tray, Near East or Egypt, 19th century Large circular flat-wing tray, in copper alloy with engraved decoration of a central medallion decorated with a geometric composition of interlocking stars and polygons, set in a hexagon with calligraphic cartouches in Arabic thuluth and encircled by a frieze of lambrequins. The whole is trimmed with palmette scrolls. On the wing, a frieze of cartouches and four-lobed medallions trimmed with palmette scrolls or inscriptions. Diameter: 58 cm Dirt and oxidation.
