A very fine trial proof on Montval laid paper, before steeling, prior to the 1939 edition of 260 proofs, signed in pencil. Annotation in pencil in the hand of H. M. Petiet at the foot under the signature: "Essai avant aciérage". Minor light foxing, especially in the central figure. The lower right corner slightly depressed. All margins untrimmed.
