Petiet at the foot under the signature: "Essai avant aciérage - 1er Etat avant / le renforcement du trait vertical" (in the base of the statue). Small light freckles, especially in the central figure. The lower right corner slightly depressed. All margins untrimmed. Provenance: Ambroise Vollard (1866-1939) then H. M. Petiet (1894-1980).
