CRIME. François SALVADOR (1895-1925) criminal, known as "the Bloody Artificer". 2 autograph manuscripts signed, Murder of Doladille, Summary of facts and Theft of Roussel Jacques, Summary of facts; 20 pages in-4. Very curious file. Salvador relates the facts of which he is accused, in a very clear and detailed account. Twice, in fact, this chief artilleryman of the army, decorated war hero, murdered military comrades, whose corpses he made disappear in supposedly accidental explosions... Murder of Doladille, February 8, 1920. He describes with a chilling coldness the facts, and transforms this murder into a crime of passion: the motives of the dispute, the circumstances of the murder "suddenly, I fired a bullet near the right eye. [...] As soon as he was hit, he fell forward like a sledgehammer, killed on the spot. He later returned to the scene of the crime to bury the corpse by blowing up the shelter where Doladille was standing. He strongly asserts that although he searched the body and took the money before covering it up, theft was never the motive for this murder... For the second murder on the other hand, the robbery of Roussel Jacques, on January 25, 1921, he affirms that it was an accident, but admits "guilty of having stolen the corpse of Roussel, without absolute pecuniary necessity, pushed only by the action of Albertus on my mistress"... He will be convicted and guillotined in 1925. Attached are two mug shots of Salvador (front and profile); a L.A.S. from Salvador to Mr. Poimiro, a lawyer in Nancy, asking him to defend him (Feb. 21, 1922); a L.A.S. from Senator Vilar to lawyer Poimiro about Salvador's request for a pardon; a set of press clippings about Salvador's trial and execution.
