Kovsh in vermeil and cloisonné enamel. Moscow ? Last quarter of the 19th century. Kovsh with traditional decoration of scrolls in cloisonné enamel on a blue enamel background, enamelled inside. The neck highlighted with a row of pearls in white enamel, as well as the base and the edge of the pedestal. The center inside is enameled with a rosette in a round of pearls in white enamel in echo to the row of pearls outside. It is a technique of false plique-à-jour or false stained glass. Hallmarks on the socket: Moscow (? very damaged), silversmith "С.Б." (several possibilities), Soviet control hallmark of the Moscow inspection 1954-1958 and "ММ5Р" (the last letter is uncertain? 1955, Mstera?). The punches on the pedestal are crushed and illegible (Moscow?). Height: 5.5 cm; 9.5 x 5 cm; gross weight: 84 g Perhaps there was a deliberate desire to damage the original hallmarks? Soviet markings on objects of the imperial period are known phenomena. Michel Brodsky Collection - lots from 92 to 154 [Russian art]
