Pair of red and gold lacquered wood furniture, China, late 19th century Opening with two leaves, each decorated with two dragons chasing the flaming pearl among lotus flowers and scrolls above the waves of the Ocean and the rocks of the Earth. The same decoration is found on the front and side panels. The back of the furniture is stained black and formerly lacquered with a floral decoration. The interior is lacquered red and equipped with a shelf. The fittings are in polychrome cloisonné enamel on copper with lotus motifs in the Ming style. Probably not original, they have been reassembled on the furniture later. Height : 104 cm ; 96 x 41 cm Cracks in the lacquer and wood, repaints and transformations.
