A set including an altar textile and a rectangular high silk embroidered banner, China late 19th - early 20th century and Vietnam 20th century, Emperor Bao Dai period - A zhuoqun-桌裙 altar textile, embroidered on a red ground, with central decoration of a tiger under the sun in stylized clouds surrounded by a light blue satin band embroidered with butterflies, lotus flowers, small dragons, and shou sign, and thin dark blue and red satin bands sewn with verrogo. A green silk net from which are suspended glass beads and polychrome silk tassels adorn the bottom. It is lined with a textile painted with a decoration of cranes and butterflies among pierced rocks, peaches and flowers. About 123 x 61 cm - A banner embroidered with gold threads on a red background with the four characters 帶礪長存 (persist with honor and dignity), framed by a small frieze of bats, grecques, flowers, flowering vases and tassels. On the right it is dated in smaller embroidered characters 保大庚辰年 (Bao da geng chen nian), a cyclical date corresponding to the year 1940 of Emperor Bao Dai, the last emperor of Vietnam. Other inscriptions appear to the left of the banner. It is framed by a yellow satin band decorated with decorative metal rings and embroidered with butterflies, flowers and auspicious symbols in polychrome silk.
