Curious letter, written shortly before the death of Louis XIV (September 1), about the coming to Marly of Madame de Parabère (daughter of Mme de La Vieuville, and mistress of the future Regent). His correspondent having not written to the King about this, "I told it to Me de Caylus to tell it again to Me de Pompadour who apparently did not find the opportunity to speak about it to this princess who has very good spies with the King because she says that she knows positively the day and hour that he received a letter from you [....] she is right because I do not deny that you have written to the King but I am sure that you did not mention the name of Me de Parabere"... She is ready to do something else on this subject if Mme de La Vieuville wishes it...
