George SAND. L.A.S. "George", Nohant June 25 [1853], to her friend Rozanne Bourgoing; 3 pages in-12 (the 1st page a little soiled).
Intervention after the arrest of Ferdinand François, the former director of the Revue indépendante. She instructs her friend to give the Minister of the Interior Persigny that she sends to him, "and that is confidential". She addresses Mrs. François to him. "I believe that a note specifying the day of her husband's arrest and the number of his place of incarceration, as short and precise as possible, would hasten his release, if, as I believe, he is the object of a misunderstanding. There must be some disorder in the offices at the moment because of the transfer. [You know how attached I am to François and how much his situation distresses and worries me.
Correspondence, vol. XI, n° 5948.
