COLETTE (1873-1954). L.A.S., [ca. 1933], to her "very dear Winnie" (Winnaretta Singer, Princess Edmond de Polignac); 3 pages in-4 on blue paper.
In spite of her deep friendship with him, she does not express herself much, but she has been suffering for two seasons from a neuritis in the right arm and shoulder, against which she is trying all treatments. She writes about her dream, in which, with Winnie and others, they form a line of women condemned to death: "they threw their jewels on the ground [...] Suddenly, I saw you, you were in a silver-grey evening dress and very peaceful [...] I called you. Because it was urgent that I did not die without having given you "the big pin with an emerald! And I was uselessly reaching out to you for this large pin thus made [drawing] [...] The urgency was such, and my calls so useless, that I awoke. This dream is perfectly silly, I agree."... She is working (articles for the Journal) and would be happy if Winnaretta would call her, or send her a bill "And also, in May or June, (if there is any) some very pretty music."...
