[LIEVRE (Edouard).
The Children of Father Adam.
[Magasin de l'Enfance, r. Suger, 3]. Paris. [Circa 1855]. Lith. Becquet frères. (16,5 x 12 cm). Leporello of (16) lithographed plates in black, hand-stenciled in color: publisher's green-grained percaline boards, gilt decoration stamped on the first board.

Collection of children from all countries lithographed and hand colored with stencil.
One of the flaps of the panorama is signed Lièvre. Edouard Lièvre (1829-1886), engraver, draftsman and lithographer. "As a draughtsman-lithographer, he executed mostly children's scenes of a particular type." (Inventory Fonds français après 1800. Département des estampes. BnF).
The coloring of these fine full-length portraits is marked by his early work as a watercolorist with faded pastel tones. The caption does not correspond to the letters on the page. No W and four plates with numbers from 1 to 9, always with portraits of children from different countries. The book starts with Chinese, Mandarin, Toreador... and ends with Greek, Breton and Swiss.
Rare copy in perfect condition.
