Containing 25/25 engraved cards (9.8 x 7 cm), numbered, square corners, white spines. Precious alphabet book of actions, engraved in etching, by the painter and miniaturist Joseph François Le Roy (Paris 1768-1829), whose name appears at the foot of the first card. On each card, a central character mimes an action, wearing the initial on his headgear. The legend, at the bottom of the card, has a capital letter on the left and a small letter on the right: A arrose a. Other drawings of occurrences complete the engraving where the characters are placed in a natural decor decorated with trees. Extreme finesse of the engraving and modernity of the illustrations; D dances, checkerboard and dice at his feet, E writes an alphabet book, N swims, R laughs, x excites a dog, etc. Very rare complete set from the very beginning of the 19th century, perfectly preserved with some wear and tear on the slipcase.
