GILL (Bob).
A to Z.
Words and pictures by Bob Gill. An Atlantic Monthly Press Book. Little, Brown and Company. Boston. Toronto. 1962. In-4 narrow (31.2 x 13.2 cm). (16) colored cardboard pages separated into three: heavy cardboard covers, orange background on the first with the title letters placed vertically, photographic portrait of Bob Gill in the center of the second, blue block at the head and orange at the foot with a few lines about the designer and his books, spiral bound in white plastic.

Extremely rare typographic primer, part system book, by the famous American graphic designer Bob Gill (1931-2021).
Trained as an artist in three American schools, he moved to London in 1960 and co-founded the famous Fletcher/Forbes/Gill design studio in 1962, which later became Pentagram. Creator of the most famous corporate and institutional logos, he also created design books and innovative books for children, including this first title.
A book-game where the pages, vertically separated in three, contain three letters on the right, of different colors and typographies and, on the left, an illustration also divided into three parts. Everything is mixed up, it's up to the child to gather the right colors, the whole illustration and the word of three letters defining it will appear in front. The designer manages to put all twenty-six letters of the alphabet together in the three initials on the right and in his three letter words. Bright yellow, red, orange, white background, black background, everything is bright, only the result of the last assembly is given: END.
In perfect condition, barely visible restoration on the top corner of the first cover.
