Publisher's cardboard folder (30.2 x 24.2 cm) enclosing (15) soft cardboard boards illustrated on both sides (X on one side): sepia cloth spine, first cover illustrated in color with title and author in Bulgarian Cyrillic letters, in geometric typography in a frame of stylized flowers and roosters, on a light gray background, binding. Unique edition of one of the most dazzling graphic alphabets of the 20th century. Drawn in 1921 by the painter and draftsman, "father of the Bulgarian caricature", Aleksandur Bozhinov (1878-1968). Studies at the State School of Painting in Sofia. In 1902, he continued his training in Munich, influenced by the German Secession, and also traveled to Paris. 1904-1909, he founded and edited the first humorous magazine Bulgaran. As a set designer and decorator for the National Theater in Sofia, the First World War mobilized him to edit the military editions. Numerous exhibitions, in Bulgaria and abroad, celebrate his work. Twenty-eight paintings (plus the cover and a plate of accented letters) where the artist draws initials and cursive letters on a colored background in ornate frames. In the center, one or more paintings represent the occurrences and, at the foot, the legends, in a geometric typography that he creates for the work, are framed with different ornaments for each plate. His drawings, mixing minimalist and figurative forms, easily readable by children, often bear his initials. They feature animals, scenes and landscapes and everyday objects. Extremely rare and sought after, in perfect condition.
