First edition of twenty-six lithographs by the Jugendstil artist Heinrich Vogeler (1872-1942). Painter, graphic designer, architect influenced by Art Nouveau, he created this ABC by imagining twenty-six small delicate central vignettes, decorations of a pre-Raphaelite, on which he drew a large letter occupying the whole square defined by the illustration. The letter is then richly enhanced with gold. The letter is captioned with verses by Otto Julius Bierbaum (1865-1910). Elegant typography, "printing for some friends". Rare and very nice copy.
