(25) original plates, in graphite and wash : half ivy green basane, green long-grained chagrined paper boards, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets. (Binding of the time). Alphabet composed of twenty-five original drawings with an exemplary finesse of execution. Illustrations of numerous occurrences mixed with the large central initial, in very picturesque scenes representative of the time (without the W). The last plate bears the signature of Emilie D., artist worthy of the illustrators of the time and of a great skill. She would have reproduced drawings by Victor Adam, but after a thorough study of the lithographed alphabet book [cf. n° 65 and n° 99 of the catalog] and of these drawings, it seems certain that she put her signature on the original drawings of the famous artist. Unique set, of great rarity, with very well preserved plates. Without the first flyleaf, manual sewing of the body of the book visible on the inner hinges. Copy certainly rebound.
