(Small stains and irregular edges). 19,5 x 26 cm This may be the second known study for the Amphitrite figure, the other being in a private collection (see Emmanuel Ducamp et al, L'Apothéose d'Hercule de François Lemoyne, histoire et restauration d'un chef d'œuvre, Paris, Éditions Alain de Gourcuff, 2001, Ill 73, p.100, reproduced). The hand sketches on the reverse can be compared to those of Mercury.
