N° 1, February 1818-N° 113, March 1820. Paris, At the office of La Minerve Française. Complete collection. 113 issues in 9 vol. in-8 bound. The 9th volume includes the pamphlets published under the cloak after the re-establishment of the censorship: "Lettres sur la situation de la France" (April 1820), "Galerie" (April 1820), "Panorama" (May 1820), "Considérations politiques et morales" (May 1820), "Portefeuille politique" (May 1820): these 5 pamphlets with their white or brick covers Handwritten notes of Vasseur (2 ff.). Attached : - 1 portrait of Benjamin Constant. Very nice copy.
A liberal periodical, its goal was "to propagate all useful knowledge, to destroy without return all the prejudices that certain classes and parties would have wanted to support, to form or strengthen public opinion, to hasten the personal education of France, to strengthen in a word, all the true principles, in politics, in morals and in literature", such was the task that its editors had imposed on themselves. In truth, the Minerve was the real Menipé satire of the Restoration (Hatin, p. 342).
