Large ceremonial oil lamp Gajalakshmi Vilakku, India, 19th - 20th century Made of cast and chased copper alloy, this hanging lamp consists of a circular tray on a pedestal topped by a decoration in the round representing the goddess Lakshmi seated cross-legged and flanked by elephants, with an openwork frieze decorated with peacocks surrounding the whole. Two feline figures at the base of the frieze marked in its center by a mascaron at the start of a long chain with a suspension hook. Four small ceremonial oil lamps in the form of a throne are attached, two of them Gajalakhsmi.
