Triptych of calligraphic leaves and an illustration, Iran, 17th-19th century Three vertical oblong leaves on fine paper, two with calligraphic decoration of Persian nast'aliq lines in black ink, in multiple directions, one dated 1079 H/ 1668 and introduced by three later lines, the second from the 19th century. Between the two, a black ink drawing heightened with colored pigments and gold of a woman sitting in a garden, a bare foot resting on the opposite knee, and a servant presenting her with fruit in a dish. Each composition is powdered with gold and surrounded by a margin decorated with stencilled floral and animal motifs.
