The Thousand and One Nights / Alf Layla wa Layla, printed version dated 1321 H/ 1903 Complete work in four paper volumes, the text of forty-seven lines per page in cursive Arabic printed in black ink. Each volume introduced by a title page specifying the number of the volume and sealed with the name of Prince 'Azzedin Bey followed by a triangular pediment frontispiece and geometric decoration housing the Bismillah in a cartouche. For each volume, half-bound in red cloth, the spine in brown leather ribbed and titled in gold. Freckles, some pages shortened, restorations and tears in the first volume, some wetness, stains and traces of wear. Provenance: Collection of Crown Prince Azzedine Bey. Sidi Azzedine Bey (1943-53) was the first crown prince of Lamine Bey (r. 1943-57), himself the last Bey of the Husseinite dynasty of Tunisia. He was assassinated on July 1, 1953.
