Set of the first four volumes of the edition of the complete works of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, published at Poinçot in Paris by Sébastien Mercier, l'abbé Brizard and de L'Aulnaye. They contain La Nouvelle Héloïse in its entirety, illustrated with five frontispieces engraved by Jean-Jacques Hubert, Antoine Cosme Giraud and De Ghendt after Marillier, as well as thirteen plates (out of fourteen), twelve of which are engraved after compositions by Jean-Michel Moreau, known as the young man and one after Francis Weathly. The first plate in the second volume is missing, as is the case in other copies we have encountered.

A VERY FINE COPY IN A BOZÉRIAN BINDING. It is enriched with a portrait of the author by Saint-Aubin. The title leaves "Œuvres complètes de J.J. Rousseau" have not been preserved which proves that this binding was made only for these four isolated volumes.
