[Lyon : Jacques Giunta], 1531. - 2 works in one volume in-8, brown speckled basane, cold filleting on the boards, spine ribbed, speckled edges (17th century binding).

Set of two works by the Italian judge of Bologna Ippolito Marsili (1451-1529), in gothic prints from Lyon.

The first work, dealing with criminal matters, was printed by Jacques Myt for the bookseller Vincent de Portonariis whose beautiful mark appears on the title. It is the last work of the author, fruit of his long experience as a teacher, lawyer and judge. It has two parts, the second one, with a proper title and a particular pagination, is the alphabetical directory of the book.

A new edition printed by Giunta of the "Solemnis et pene divini" by the same author is bound afterwards. It includes a beautiful title illustrated with a woodcut vignette representing Marsili in front of his students, repeated on the front of leaves xxvij and xciiij.

Copy in a 17th century binding. Cracks on the spine, rubbing from use, restorations to the corners and endpapers. Some wormholes with damage to the text, ink stain on the cliij leaf, top margin a little short, with damage to some current titles. Staining, especially affecting the last 40 leaves.

Provenance: J.B. Colbert de Beaulieu, with bookplate. - J.J. Olinger, with bookplate. - Jean Stefgen, with bookplate.
