BIBLE. La Sainte Bible. Lyon : Jean de Tournes, 1559. - 3 parts in one volume in-folio, stiff parchment, spine ribbed (modern binding). Uncommon edition of this Protestant Bible made according to the Geneva version; it follows the text of the 1553 edition of Robert Estienne. It is illustrated with 290 woodcuts, 179 in the text and 3 full-page in the first part, 11 in the text and one full-page in the second, and 96 in the text in the third. The title bears the sower mark; the second and third parts are introduced by a false title framed with arabesque. A fine copy, in modern imitation binding. Many leaves restored, notably at the beginning and end of the volume and in the second part, with damage to the text. The last few leaves have significant tears, also reaching the text. The first title is doubled. Some wetness. The last leaf is missing with only the typographical mark "au lac d'amour".
