Qur'anic leaf on parchment, Andalusia or Morocco, 13th century Manuscript folio on square parchment inscribed on both sides with seven lines of text in Maghribi Arabic in sepia ink, the diacritical marks and vocalization in red, blue, yellow and green inks. The verses are separated by illuminated motifs in gold and polychrome of various shapes, triscels, rosettes, palms, and marginal illuminations marking the divisions of the text. On one side, the title of the sura is inscribed in gold letters in kufic calligraphy, with a marginal medallion illuminated with palmettes in the continuation. The text extends from Sura al Balad XC, end 19-20, to Sura al-Shams XCI, 1-10. 27.2 x 26.5 cm Stains, folds, a few holes, one corner restored.
