Hans Bellmer (1902-1975)
Suite of 7 plates for Mode d'emploi, G. Visat ed. 1953-1967. Burin. Each sheet : 160 x 230. 17 Flahutez. Very nice proofs on japon nacré, the first one printed in bistre, the others in black, signed in pencil, contained in a printed folder. Some rare light foxing to the edges of the leaves. All margins.

These engravings, originally made in 1953, were intended to illustrate André Pieyre de Mandiargues' book, L'Anglais décrit dans le château fermé, which eventually never saw the light of day. The suite was reused by Georges Visat to illustrate Mode d'emploi. A separate edition of the suite was made on japon nacré, outside the ordinary edition of the book at 150 copies.
