Dagger of venery. Handle in wood of stag, with three buttons of riveting. Brass mounting, cap decorated with an acorn, hilt with two quillons in doe leg, and palmette keyboard. Flat-backed blade, engraved with foliage and hunting trophies (pitting), signed "JA HENCKELS". Brown leather scabbard with two brass fittings. A.B.E. About 1840.
