Officer's saber of the Veneto Legions. Fluted ebony handle. Chased brass mounting, cap decorated with palmettes. Guard with one fluted branch, curved quillon towards the bottom ending in melon ribs. Half-ridges decorated with a Venetian lion's head and scales. Curved Solingen blade, flat-backed, engraved with gold and blued in thirds (wear). Period leather scabbard, (broken), with two cut and chased brass fittings with frieze decoration. Dard in palmette. Button of cap in flower. A.B.E. Consulate - First Empire period.
