King's bodyguard saber of the 2nd model. Handle covered with stingray with filigree. Chased brass mounting, gilded. Cap with long tail. Guard with four branches and shell with "Arms of France" on a bundle of flags, surrounded by oak and laurel leaves. Quillon in palmette. Curved, flat-backed blade, marked "Manufre Rle du Klingenthal Octobre 1814", with counter-edge, hollow sides and gutters, engraved in thirds on one side: "Garde du Corps du Roi", with fleurs-de-lis and military attributes; on the other side: with a sun, "Armes de France" and punches on the heel. Two-band iron scabbard (stained) with brass cap chased with acanthus leaves. Sting boulé. B.E.
