First edition of one of the most beautiful surrealist texts, including a facsimile reproduction of an autograph fragment of the manuscript as a frontispiece. Some chapters judged very free were censored by the tribunal of the Seine. The publisher was then forced to delete the pages evoking the "Club des buveurs de sperme" and the "Nouvelle eucharistie consacrant la divinité du Bébé Cadum". One of 965 numbered copies on Rives vellum, enriched, separately and in sheets, with the censored free passages that the publisher, for fear of legal proceedings, sold separately by subscription. A perfectly preserved copy, enriched with a sheet giving the collation of the quires containing the censored passages.
