Manufacture Royale d'Aubusson 18th century
Wool and silk tapestry after an engraving by Jacques Stella (1596-1657)
255 x 340 cm
Very good condition, the borders are missing, lined

This scene represents the winter treated as an interior scene (rare thing); Indeed by a process known as "exploded" we can see the outside of the house while inside is an important chimney in which a fire heats a cauldron and, sitting in front of it, a whole family with children, parents and grandmother, is warming up.
The faces have been woven more finely following the process known as "interwoven warps", weaving usually done by a workshop leader, the bright colors of the costumes and embers giving relief to the scene.
There is no known example of this model in this state to date.
