Composite mannequin, with system of articulations, the body in oak wood, the head probably in walnut, the eyes in glass paste
H : 172 cm
Accidents, lacks (fingers) and restorations, traces of polychromy

This articulated mannequin representing a Christ was intended to be staged in the context of the Holy Week. This typology appeared in Spain in the medieval period and then spread from the 16th century in the context of the propaganda of the Counter-Reformation. The numerous articulations at the level of the head, arms, feet and knees make it possible to dramatize the Christ usually presented on the cross, then lowered during a ceremony of the "Deposition of the Cross". The mannequin, then dressed in sumptuous costumes, is displayed for the faithful to see during the "Santo Burial" procession.
