Set of two complete suites, in black and in sanguine, of original woodcuts by Aristide MAILLOL for Virgil's Georgics. Each suite, printed at 100 copies, includes 72 plates on pure hemp and linen paper with large fibers with a watermark of a female nude specially created by the artist, comprising 121 woodcuts, including the initials. Each plate has the artist's stamp, in sanguine on the black suite, and in black on the sanguine suite. The two suites are also preserved in a cover illustrated with a wood by Maillol. The set is completed with a suite of 10 trial proofs in red china paper. Some very rare foxing.
