Jansenist wine-lees chagrin, smooth spine, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (period binding). Edition of 150 numbered copies on Arches laid paper, printed and illustrated by the publisher and artist André DESLIGNÈRES (1880-1968). He drew for this book a frontispiece, a composition on the cover, various bands and ornaments, engraved on wood in colors. One of the 50 copies numbered in Roman numerals, this one specially printed for the Bibliothèque Nationale. It has been enriched with the following items: - an unpublished watercolor drawing by Deslignères on the verso of the justification leaf, - an original study for the cover, refused by the publisher, - an original study for the frontispiece, refused by the publisher, - a study of the main subject of the frontispiece, - 2 color studies on japan of the frontispiece, - a proof of a chapter head not retained, - two tests on chine of a part of the frontispiece, - two typographical tests with two original sketches . A good copy in spite of the slightly faded spine and some minor wear and tear.
