Grey morocco, boards decorated with a yellow dot pattern and an abstract composition made of glazed and glued marbled paper, smooth spine, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, lined slipcase (Devauchelle). First edition printed at 810 copies, illustrated in frontispiece with a portrait of the author by André Masson, engraved on wood by Georges Aubert. It was published in the collection "Une œuvre, un portrait". ONE OF 16 COPIES ON OLD JAPAN, with a proof of the portrait on old tinted japan, numbered and signed by the engraver. Originally with large margins, the proof has been cut to the size of the book. A very nice copy in the original Devauchelle binding. Spine slightly faded.
